New-client consultation: New clients considering a new access-control service receive an on-site visit and up to one hour of consultation at no cost. Troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and technical service on an existing system are billable at standard service rates.

Plan the complete door opening

A reliable system must control entry while preserving lawful egress. Each opening should be reviewed for door handing, frame condition, closer operation, latch alignment, exit hardware, credential workflow, power requirements and required life-safety interfaces.

• Locking hardware: For standard commercial doors, we generally prefer fail-secure electric strikes, electrified locksets or motorized latch retraction.
• Exit hardware: Panic hardware must continue to provide the required mechanical egress.
• Door position: A monitored contact supports forced-door and held-door reporting.
• Request to exit: REX is used to monitor or suppress authorized egress events; it is not the sole unlocking method for a mechanically free-egress door.
• Power: Lock power supplies, relay distribution, batteries and surge protection must match the approved hardware load.
• Magnetic locks: We avoid maglocks for ordinary doors unless the specific opening and approved life-safety design require them.

Brivo cloud-managed access control

Brivo is a strong fit for organizations that need remote administration, mobile credentials, event history and multi-site visibility. Brivo requires an active subscription; purchasing a controller or reader alone does not provide ongoing cloud service.

Readers, credentials and administration

Credential technology should match the risk and operating workflow. Options can include cards, fobs, mobile credentials, PINs and dual-credential readers. OSDP is preferred for new reader wiring when supported because it can provide supervised, bidirectional communication.

Each administrator should use an individual account. User onboarding, credential revocation, schedules, exception reporting and periodic access reviews should be documented before the system is placed in service.

Existing-system service and takeovers

An access-control system does not always need full replacement when the original installer is unavailable. We can evaluate controllers, readers, locking hardware, power supplies, wiring, network communication and database condition to identify what can be repaired, reused or transferred.

Common service issues include doors that fail to relock, readers that respond without releasing the lock, misaligned strikes, unreliable forced-door events, inactive schedules, failed power supplies and former users who remain active.

Gates, parking and visitor entry

Access control can extend to vehicle gates, parking garages, elevators, lobbies and shared tenant spaces. Designs may combine credentials, RFID, license-plate recognition, intercoms, cameras and emergency-access provisions.

Life safety, accessibility and approvals

Security cannot compromise egress. The approved design may need to address free egress, accessibility, fire-alarm release, emergency access, delayed or controlled egress, gate entrapment protection, elevator interfaces, permits and AHJ acceptance.

Care facilities and other special occupancies require a door-by-door review. Final hardware and operating logic must follow the approved plans and the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
