Brivo ACS300: Two-Door Cloud Access Controller Planning Guide

The Brivo ACS300 is a compact access-control panel for small door counts and distributed sites. It is best understood as the controller at the center of a complete opening—not as a complete door-security package by itself.

What the ACS300 supports

Brivo identifies the ACS300 series as a compact controller supporting up to two wired doors. It uses network connectivity and can operate with Brivo Access; supported configurations and peripherals depend on the current Brivo documentation and account design.

• up to two wired controlled doors;
• Ethernet and supported Wi-Fi connectivity;
• reader, door-position, request-to-exit and relay inputs/outputs;
• event reporting and remote administration through the configured Brivo platform;
• supported OSDP or other reader configurations based on the controller and installation design.

Brivo requires an active subscription

Brivo cloud access control requires a subscription. Hardware purchase alone does not provide ongoing Brivo Access service, mobile administration or cloud features.

The recurring price depends on the account, number of doors, credentials and selected features. Avenger Security separates controller hardware, installation and subscription charges in the proposal so the continuing cost is clear.

The controller is only one part of each door

A complete controlled opening can also require:

• a compatible reader and credential type;
• a fail-secure electric strike, electrified lockset or motorized exit device;
• a listed lock power supply with the required battery capacity;
• a door-position switch;
• a request-to-exit input or monitored egress hardware;
• properly rated cable, pathway and surge protection;
• network service and an approved firewall configuration;
• door-held, forced-door and audit-event programming.

Locking hardware should be powered and protected according to the approved design and manufacturer instructions. Do not select the panel before confirming the door hardware, voltage and current requirements.

Reader communication and credentials

OSDP is preferred for new reader wiring when supported because it can provide supervised, bidirectional communication. Existing Wiegand readers may be reusable in some upgrades, but the cable, reader condition and security requirements should be evaluated.

Credential options can include cards, fobs, mobile credentials or dual-credential readers. The administrator should decide how credentials are issued, revoked and audited before enrollment begins.

Where the ACS300 fits well

• a one- or two-door office;
• a remote building within a larger Brivo account;
• a storefront with separate customer and staff openings;
• a controlled suite, pharmacy or records area;
• a small upgrade where compatible readers and field wiring can be reused.

For higher door counts or expansion requirements, a modular Brivo panel may provide a cleaner architecture. Door count alone should not determine the controller; future growth, enclosure space, network layout and power distribution also matter.

Commissioning checklist

• confirm the subscription and account assignment;
• verify network connectivity and panel communication;
• test every reader, credential and schedule;
• confirm free egress under normal and loss-of-power conditions;
• test door-position, REX, forced-door and held-door events;
• verify the audit trail identifies users and exceptions accurately;
• document controller, door, reader and power-supply locations;
• train the customer’s Brivo administrators.
